Join our 4th annual Fall For Watercolor Challenge this October!

The Fall For Watercolor Challenge (FFWC), is a month-long art challenge for folks wanting to get deeper into their art! With daily prompts, we dig into into our art practice and revel in the joys of watercolor.

This year we'll be mixing it up a bit, so instead of daily watercolor painting tutorials, you'll have daily art-related prompts.  You can still follow our past tutorials on Instagram, TikTok, and Youtube, (playlists of previous challenges are listed below), or you can either pair this with your own project or another art challenge for the month. 

Each day you'll get an email with that day's prompt, an activity, and a helpful or silly link.

Let's get to the 5 Ws of the challenge, here are all the nitty gritty details: 

Who:

Calling all creative and creatively curious people — if you’ve been wanting to explore your artistic side or dive deeper into your artistic side, this year’s challenge is for you! All folks are welcome to participate.

**If you are outside of the United States I am unable to send you prizes through the mail but you will receive options for a virtual prize.

What: 

Every year I host a creative challenge in October. This is the 4th year!! In the past, we painted a watercolor painting every single day, but this year I wanted to explore our inner-artist world. It will also be a challenge that is not tied to a season so you can tailor the challenge to your needs any time of the year. You may see me refer to it as the Fresh, Fearless, and Wildly Creative Challenge (See what I did there...Still #FFWC) since October isn't the only time we can honor our craft!

This year there will be a daily question that will help you think about your artistic life and journey. The questions will help guide you toward a project that inspires you creatively. If you’ve been feeling stuck, don’t really know where to start, or want an accountability buddy --then you’re in the right place.

There is no posting requirement, but I always love seeing and sharing your work, so please feel encouraged to tag me @splatter.and.bloom and use the hashtag #FFWC25 so I can see your amazing art!

October is the month of art challenges and I know a lot of folks want to participate in several different challenges -- #FFWC25 can totally be folded into your artwork for other challenges. If you want to paint all things watercolor, you can check out the tutorial videos in my highlights for all our past videos (see links below).

Where:

This online challenge will take place in your email and on the social media platform of your choice. I’ll be posting the daily questions to TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, (maybe Threads if I'm feeling wild!). Pick a platform and share your thoughts in the post for each day to earn extra chances to win our prizes.

When you sign up for the challenge (sign up here), you automatically get entered into the drawing and it will get you all set up to get an email every morning with the prompt, PLUS an activity that isn’t posted on social media to dig deeper into the question of the day, and some helpful, fun links.

Why: 

For the love of watercolor (or your art of choice) baby! Creativity is so often looked at as a luxury, but it really is the lifeblood of this wild world. Learning to see the world in a different light, to make something out of nothing, to think outside the box — this is such an important practice. Taking time to nurture this side of us is a beautiful way to honor our hearts and our sweet lil' creative brains!

How: 

To participate, you first need to sign up.  To earn extra points for the prize drawing at the end of the month, you can also comment on the daily social media post (1 point per post participation).  I will have a drawing on the 31st during a social media live stream (links sent in email later) and I will contact you via email using the email address hello@splatterandbloom.com to get your shipping info for you to retrieve your prize! (The internet is full of weirdos, so please use caution when responding to emails outside of your contacts)
